The presentation will summarize recent research related to the coverage expansions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Specific research questions include:
- What were the determinants of insurance coverage prior to the implementation of health reform? How did coverage vary with income and other demographic factors, such as race and ethnicity?
- What was the effect of the ACA on the percentage of Americans with health insurance? How did these effects vary across demographic groups? How has coverage changed in states that implemented the ACA’s public insurance expansions compared to those states that have refused to implement that component of the law?
- How have the insurance coverage expansions affected access to and utilization of health care services? What has been the financial impact on households and health care providers?
